Final Entries Published for Istanbul 2023

The final entries of the European Indoor Athletics Championships, which will be held at Ataköy Athletics Hall between 2-5 March, have been announced. Seven athletes who won the Olympic champion title in Tokyo 2020 and 18 athletes who won gold medals at the 2022 European Athletics Championships held in Munich are on the final entries.

Olympic champions from Tokyo 2020 Marcell Jacobs (60m), Karsten Warholm (400m), Jakob Ingebrigtsen (1500-3000m), Miltiadis Tentoglou (long jump), Pedro Pichardo (triple jump), Malaika Mihambo (long jump) and Nafissatou Thiam (pentathlon) will take part in the championship. Five of these seven athletes became champions in their events at the last European Athletics Indoor Championships in Torun.

15 athletes on the final entries will try to keep the European championship title they won in Torun three years ago. Femke Bol, who holds the indoor world record in the 400 meters, will compete to become the champion once again in both the 400 meters and the 4x400 meters. Mujinga Kambundji, the last world champion who won the bronze medal in the 60 meters at the championship held in Belgrade in 2017, will also run to win her first European championship in Istanbul.

Yasemin Can, who won the silver medal in the 3000 meters in Belgrade six years ago and Emre Zafer Barnes who came second in Europe in the 60 meters in the 2019 championship held in Glasgow are among the athletes who will compete in the Turkish team.
