USA have been crowned Billie Jean King Cup Juniors by BNP Paribas winners for a record-extending seventh time after overcoming defending champions Czech Republic on the clay of Antalya, Türkiye.
Impressive duo Valerie Glozman and Clervie Ngounoue were in ruthless form and clinically dispatched Lucie Urbanova and Tereza Valentova in straight sets as the USA claimed their first tournament title since 2019.
Ngounoue, who is originally from Washington, D.C., has proven herself a formidable competitor throughout the week, winning all seven matches she has contested across singles and doubles, although she perhaps saved her best form for the final.
Defeating a player 29 places higher in the rankings, junior world No. 40 Ngounoue was a mixture of power and poise as she administered the knockout blow which powered the United States into an unassailable lead.
By topping the Billie Jean King Cup Juniors podium and being named the best team on the planet in the 16-and-under age category, Glozman, Ngounoue and Iva Jovic have followed in some incredibly lofty footsteps.
Unfortunately, the final proved a step too far for the nation’s boys as they were defeated by a slick Brazil team featuring the prodigiously talented Joao Fonseca.
