18th "Runtalya" Marathon
Thousands of people ran to heal the wounds of earthquake victims at the 18th International Antalya Marathon "Runtalya."
Dr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, Minister of Youth and Sports, took part in the "One Step-One Life" awareness run, which was part of the 18th International Antalya Marathon. Kasapoğlu said: "Sport is a phenomenon that brings people together. In this event, we will reflect the spirit of sports much more strongly."
The marathon, which has been held since 2006, got its start from Minister Kasapoğlu, accompanied by Antalya Governor Ersin Yazıcı and national athletes. 10,000 athletes from 45 countries have registered this year.
The proceeds from the Runtalya Marathon will be donated to the areas affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes. In addition to Minister Kasapoğlu, National Athlete Ramil Guliyev, National Archers Mete Gazoz, Gülnaz Büşranur Coşkun, Goalball Women's Team National Athletes Sevda Altınoluk, Fatmagül Güler, Para Table Tennis National Athletes Nesim Turan, Abdullah Öztürk, National Wrestlers Osman Yıldırım, Fazlı Eryılmaz ran in the marathon.
After the race, Minister Kasapoğlu told reporters that the marathon was held in a different atmosphere this year, explaining that the series of earthquakes constituted one of the most significant disasters in history.
