After the groundbreaking in 23rd of April 2003, the circuit firstly hosted Formula 1™ in 2005.
In 2012, the rights of Istanbul Park facilities’ are taken by Intercity. With the improvement works and investment, Intercity Istanbul Park became Turkey’s most comprehensive automobile, motor sports and road safety center.
Intercity Istanbul Park has international reputation and hosted Formula 1TM World Championship, WTCC World Touring Car Cup, LMES Endurance Series, DTM German Touring Car Championship, RWS Renault World Series, MotoGP, SBK World Superbike Championship, FIA World Rallycross RX Championship, Ferrari Racing Days, ETCR European Truck Racing Championship and multiple corporate events.
Intercity Istanbul Park is located in Tuzla and built on 2.215.000 m2 area.
Circuit’s architect, Herman Tilke, designed the circuit 5.338 km (3.317 miles) long and with 14.5-21 meters width, it is ran counter clockwise. Right 6, left 8, in total there are 14 turns on the circuit. The maximum speed in Formula 1 is above 320 km/h. The circuit has ups and downs and the highest longitudinal slope is 8.145%.
