Franco was a Greek-flagged cargo ship carrying asphalt raw materials. The top-side of the wreck lies at a depth of 26 meters and the bottom at a depth of 44 meters, relatively close to the shore, leaning to the port side. The long and large shipwreck stands intact as a whole. It lies down, where experienced divers can dive due to the strong current. Marine life varies around the shipwreck. Coral formations have started on the ship. Endangered red corals are found in this zone and only in this wreck.
The historical shipwrecks in the Dardanelles not only benefits the underwater ecosystem, but has also become a centre of attraction for diving enthusiasts.
