HMS Louis, built in 1912, had been damaged after colliding with a tugboat on October 30, 1915 and ran aground while serving under the command of Harold Dallas Adair-Hall during the Gallipoli Battles.
The ship, which was used for night rescue operations, was painted in a colour compatible with the rocks and used as a wall in order to prevent the Turkish artillery from noticing these works. The ship, weighing 965 tons and at a length of 82 meters long with 45 meters of wreck on the sand and the rest buried under the sand. 4 Yarrov type cauldrons of the wreck are still in good condition today.
