The ship Massena, named after Andrea Massena, one of the important Marshalls of the French Revolution, was built between 1894-1898. The ship, weighing 11,735 tons, carried out its last mission by ensuring other ships approaching the shore safely during the evacuation of Gallipoli by the Allies. For this purpose, it had been run aground as a bulwark on November 9, 1915.
