Sümela Ultra Trail
On June 6, 2026, the Black Sea will offer one of its most cinematic trail-running experiences as Sümela Ultra Trail unfolds across the lush landscapes of Trabzon, especially Maçka and the Altındere Valley. This is a race shaped by forest, mist, history, and elevation—where runners move through deep green valleys, rushing streams, steep slopes, and the mystical atmosphere of one of Türkiye’s most unforgettable natural corridors.
The event will welcome different levels of trail runners through three distinct routes. The 61K Sümela Ultra Trail will be the full-scale adventure—long, demanding, and deeply immersive. The 22K Altındere Medium Trail will offer a strong middle-distance challenge through the valley’s rich natural texture, while the 10K Maçka Short Trail will create a shorter but equally memorable entry into the region’s wild beauty. Along the way, runners will not only test themselves physically, but also encounter the spirit of the area—most notably the legendary Sümela Monastery, rising from the cliffs like a monument suspended between nature and time. And even if you’re not running, this is still the kind of weekend worth making the trip for—because in Sümela, the trails are dramatic, the scenery feels sacred, and the day lingers in your memory long after the finish.
