Ayvalık International Liberation Half Marathon

The Aegean’s gem, Ayvalık, will once again welcome runners from across the globe as it hosts the 3rd International Liberation Half Marathon on September 13, 2025. Held with the support of the Balıkesir Governorship, Türkiye Athletics Federation, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, and Ayvalık Municipality—and proudly sponsored by Setur Marinas Ayvalık—the race is expected to draw over 1,500 athletes from 30 countries.

Participants will challenge themselves on 21K half marathon, 10K, and 5K courses winding through stunning coastal views, historic streets, and landscapes dotted with olive groves and red corals. More than a race, this event celebrates Ayvalık’s Liberation Week, combining sport, history, and culture in one unforgettable experience.

Event Director Onur Şentürk highlighted Ayvalık’s growing reputation as a sports destination: “Ayvalık is no longer just a tourism hotspot—it’s becoming a rising destination for sports tourism. Each year, this race grows stronger, and we are proud to share it with the world.”
