2026 Formula Kite European Championships

Akyaka will bring Europe’s top Formula Kite athletes to the Aegean coast on September 6–12, 2026, as the 2026 Formula Kite European Championships take over Akyaka Kite Beach in Gökova. Set on one of Türkiye’s most striking bays, the championship will turn Muğla’s wind-rich shoreline into a week of speed, tactical racing, and high-level competition on the water.

Formula Kite is one of the most dynamic disciplines in sailing. It is fast, technical, and made for dramatic viewing. Riders will work with wind, balance, and split-second decisions while racing across the waters of Gökova Bay. And Akyaka is the kind of venue that naturally fits the sport—steady wind, open sea space, and a coastal setting that makes every race look even more spectacular.

The destination will add even more depth to the week. Gökova Bay, stretching between the Bodrum and Datça peninsulas, is known for its forested hills, clear waters, hidden islets, and protected natural beauty. Akyaka itself is famous for the cool waters of the Azmak River, its distinctive local architecture, and its easygoing coastal rhythm.
