11th International Edirne Half Marathon
Edirne will turn running into a journey through history on September 6, 2026, as the 11th International Edirne Half Marathon brings athletes to one of Türkiye’s most distinctive border cities. Starting from Selimiye Mosque Square, the race will place runners at the heart of a city shaped by Ottoman heritage, river crossings, stone bridges, and centuries of cultural memory.
The route will begin with a loop around the Selimiye Mosque, Mimar Sinan’s masterpiece, before continuing through Bankalar Street, past the historic Gazimihal Hamam, and toward Darülhadis Mosque. Runners will then cross the Tunca River and Tunca Bridge, followed by the Meriç River and Meriç Bridge, carrying the rhythm of the race into the historic Karaağaç direction.
The 10K runners will turn back from the Jandarma Şehitliği point on Lozan Street and return to Selimiye Square. The 21K Half Marathon runners will continue deeper into Karaağaç, pass through the Trakya University Faculty of Fine Arts area, move through the Lozan Monument gate, and head toward Pazarkule before returning to the finish. With the race broadcast live on TRT Spor Yıldız, Edirne’s historic course will reach audiences beyond the city.
For visitors, this will be more than a race weekend. Edirne will offer Selimiye’s skyline, the spirit of Kırkpınar, riverside walks, Ottoman streets, and local flavors that define the city: Edirne tava ciğeri (Thracian Crispy Fried Liver), white cheese, almond paste, and regional Balkan tastes. Even if you are not running, you will still want to be here—because Edirne turns every kilometer into a passage through history, rivers, bridges, flavor, and border-city soul.
